Mareks Graudins started playing the piano at the age of 5. He graduated from the Emils Darzins’ Music School in Riga (this school has produced many world famous musicians) and then went on to study at Jazeps Vitols’ Latvian Academy of Music with Professor Teofils Bikis (1952-2000).
Mareks obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance in 1996 and 1998 respectively. In 1992-1993 he also studied piano at the Swedish Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Professor Liisa Pohjola from Finland. Mareks has given recitals and performed in ensembles with various musicians in Latvia, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Belgium and Luxembourg. He continues his musical career in Luxembourg where his day job is heading the Latvian language department at the European Commission's Directorate General for Translation.
